He had series of Divine Encounters that led him to start the Christian Teaching Centre (AKA Global Revival Gospel Ministries lnc.) in 1984 as a weekly Bible study group that later became a full-fledged Church in 1987. The Ministry has its Headquarters in Zaria with branches across Nigeria, and in other countries such as Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and United States of America.
Dr. Akpami is President of the Global Revival Bible Training Institute (affiliated with the Evangel Christian University U.SA) a diploma and degree awarding Bible College that has produced many Church leaders and ministers since 1996. He is also the proprietor of the C.T.C. Academy (primary and secondary school), Zaria
He has authored above 55 books including the popular Daily Divine Encounter Devotional. He has been on Television since 1996, Dr. Akpami is President and founder of Cutting-Edge Ministers Association. A forum that helps Ministers stay on the cutting edge of impactful ministry. He holds the John Akpami School of Ministry (JASOM), in-person across different cities within and outside Nigeria, and online with students all over the globe. Dr. John Akpami holds a doctorate in Pastoral Theology from the Evangel Christian university U.S.A., and is a honorary Professor at the same university
He is a graduate of the prestigious Haggai Leadership Institute Hawaii USA. Dr. Akpami is a recipient of several awards and is recognized as a Christian father in the faith, especially in Northern Nigeria. He is happily married to Rev. (Dr.) Clara Akpami; a co-minster. They are blessed with two Children Pst. (Mrs.) Eunice Benu and Pst. Paul Akpami, and grandchildren.
